I had my first follow-up appointments as an outpatient since I had my heart transplant. To make things easier I got an AirBnB in the city so I wouldn’t have to fight traffic in the morning going across the bridge and we were also getting a little work done at the house as well.
It’s been awhile since I’ve been in San Francisco as a tourist. Of course I’ve spent a lot of time here, most recently it has been all for hospital and doctor visits and I’ve been here as a young adult partying and frequenting the bars with friends who had lived here in their early 20s. But none of those times were really spent just site seeing.

I had a friend stay with me to help get to my appointments and she drove me around to do some site seeing and get me out and walking around. It was pretty challenging walking around San Francisco, who thought it would be a good idea to build a major city on this little strip of land where there is virtually no level ground!

It was good exercise and I got to take breaks and enjoy some of what the city had to offer and even get a little bit of shooting in.

My brother came the next day and took over driving duties and we even got to try out a vegan sushi restaurant. I love sushi, but because I have a heart transplant I am no longer able to eat raw fish, so I wanted to see if this place would scratch that itch. It tasted fine, but it’s not the same as eating sushi. I guess you can’t replicate the texture and sensation of the fatty, oily fish on your tongue with cooked vegetables, no matter how much you try.
